by Peter Conti

What if You Could Experience The Thrill of an Epic Voyage Through Insurmountable Obstacles Without Leaving The Comfort of Your Own Home?

It was 23 months after his accident and Peter was still dealing with constant excruciating pain.

He'd seen dozens of doctors and tried a myriad of medications, but nothing seemed to work. Faced with the impossible choice of suffering through the rest of his life, he had an unlikely epiphany: "If I could somehow hike 2,000 miles on the Appalachian Trail, then my leg will have to be better."

He set a starting date three weeks out, cobbled together a novice's pack, and set off on a journey destined to change his life forever—though not exactly how he had envisioned it.

From the bleakest breakdowns to hilarious adventures, Peter's story is equal parts entertaining, enthralling, and enlightening.

Join him on the trail, one step in front of the other, as he searches for some way to heal his body and soul while struggling with chronic pain, anxiety and depression.

From the bleakest breakdowns to hilarious adventures, Peter's story is equal parts entertaining, enthralling, and enlightening. Join him on the trail, one step in front of the other, in search of healing body and soul. Everyone endures their own hardships in life, but fewer people have the courage to walk alone into the unknown to change it. Peter's stubbornly hopeful pursuit of a better life left me shaken, inspired, and grateful; a thru-hike is now on my bucket list, but so is taking smaller steps towards my dreams today. There's something about his story that sticks with you and makes you think. If he can do that, I can do anything.
Karina Monesson

From the forward...

As a hiker with my own challenges I fell in love with this book. It captures the insanity that I experienced first hand during my time on the trail with the author. I really enjoyed hiking the Appalachian Trail but when I can’t hike, I enjoy reading hiking books before going to bed. This book has elements of trauma recovery just like Cheryl Strayed’s bestselling book Wild, where she decided to hike the Pacific Crest Trail alone. It was after the author shared his inner struggles with anxiety and panic attacks while interweaving hilarious stories reminiscent of Bill Bryson’s bestseller, A Walk in The Woods, that I realized I can’t put it down. After I finish reading this for the third time (yes, it’s that good!) it’s going on the shelf right between my two other all time favorite page turner novels, John Grisham’s The Judge’s List and The Boys by Ron Howard. Don’t let the title make you think this is a foot injury story - it’s an amazing journey from the depths of the author’s heart and soul.

Coach Wooden and Me: Our 50-Year Friendship On and Off the Court

by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

Former NBA star and Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient Kareem Abdul-Jabbar explores his 50-year friendship with Coach John Wooden, one of the most enduring and meaningful relationships in sports history.

When future NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was still an 18-year-old high school basketball prospect from New York City named Lew Alcindor, he accepted a scholarship from UCLA largely on the strength of Coach John Wooden's reputation as a winner. It turned out to be the right choice, as Alcindor and his teammates won an unprecedented three NCAA championship titles. But it also marked the beginning of one of the most extraordinary and enduring friendships in the history of sports. In
Coach Wooden and Me, Abdul-Jabbar reveals the inspirational story of how his bond with John Wooden evolved from a history-making coach-player mentorship into a deep and genuine friendship that transcended sports, shaped the course of both men's lives, and lasted for half a century.

Coach Wooden and Me is a stirring tribute to the subtle but profound influence that Wooden had on Kareem as a player, and then as a person, as they began to share their cultural, religious, and family values while facing some of life's biggest obstacles. From his first day of practice, when the players were taught the importance of putting on their athletic socks properly; to gradually absorbing the sublime wisdom of Coach Wooden's now famous "Pyramid of Success"; to learning to cope with the ugly racism that confronted black athletes during the turbulent Civil Rights era as well as losing loved ones, Abdul-Jabbar fondly recalls how Coach Wooden's fatherly guidance not only paved the way for his unmatched professional success but also made possible a lifetime of personal fulfillment.

Full of intimate, never-before-published details and delivered with the warmth and erudition of a grateful student who has learned his lessons well,
Coach Wooden and Me is at once a celebration of the unique philosophical outlook of college basketball's most storied coach and a moving testament to the all-conquering power of friendship.

Everything is Perfect: A Memoir

by Kate Nason

The true story of a woman caught in one of the most riveting, talked about political scandals of our generation!

Seven years into her second marriage, Kate Nason discovered her husband was cheating on her. Then, the unimaginable happened. She woke to the news that one of her husband’s “other women” was at the center of a national scandal. The press surrounded her home, clamoring for details, and quickly transformed Kate’s private heartbreak into public humiliation.

Nason’s memoir uncovers the little-known side of a well-known story, unveiling a cautionary tale about the ways we deceive ourselves when we allow ourselves to be deceived by those we love. Everything Is Perfect is an intimate reveal of infidelity, gaslighting, and the silent wife at the press conference. Nason explores the roles women inhabit throughout their lives, how they carry trauma, and the lengths they’ll go to protect their children and save themselves. It’s a fierce and often funny self-reckoning, a meditation on learning to trust one’s intuition, and a case study of how one woman undid a bad “I do.”

In the tradition of Lisa Brennan Jobs' Small Fry or Chanel Miller’s Know My NameEverything Is Perfect is a beautifully written, deeply personal, unsparing self-portrait that goes deeper than the familiar news story within.

What people are saying about this courageous book of love, loss, and resilience:

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "A fierce look at narcissism and why women stay in bad relationships" – Audible Review

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Heartbreak countered by strength and courage" – Audible Review

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "...this is among the most beautifully written memoirs I’ve ever read. In fact, it’s downright poetic. Three cheers (and five stars) for a woman who has spun her misery into a beautiful, helpful, kind memoir." – Audible Review

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "To say that Kate Nason's memoir is the story of how a woman survived her husband's infidelity is like saying plants need water... A wonderful read." – Audible Review

What are readers saying about The Vilokan Asylum of the Magically and Mentally Deranged?

★★★★★ At the very least, and I hate to tell you this, Mr. Monroe, but I don’t think they can get any better than this. Unfortunately, that means it’s all downhill from here…. (Amazon Reviewer, Crazy Cain)

★★★★★ Ever wonder what happened to Cain after he killed Abel, let alone his relationship with Seth and his parents ? In this non canonical fictional extension of Bible, supernatural and horribly bad DAD jokes you find out. (Amazon Reviewer, The Curse of Cain)

★★★★★ As I frequently mention whenever I review a Theophilus Monroe book, I LOVE HIS BOOKS!!! As with all his books, I devoured it in a few hours, impossible to put down! I love how he takes a topic we're all familiar with and totally turns it on it's head! Adding a new twist on Cain and Abel is one of my favourite. We all know that particular story and how it ended, right? Wrong! Yes, Cain DOES kill Abel, but Theo breathes new life into this account, what we know still stands as truth, but with so much more interesting aspects. (Amazon Reviewer, Cain's Cobras)

★★★★★ Can't get enough of Cain! I was on an emotional roller-coaster with this book and reached for my tissue box by the end. Happy tears or sad tears?? I'm not saying. Buy with one click and find out. You won't regret it. (Amazon Reviewer, The Wrath of Cain)

Burning and Dodging: A Novel

by Julie Wittes Schlack

On the cusp of sixty, after a lifetime of supporting the aspirations of others, would-be artist Tina Gabler is feeling a sense of urgency to take her own ambitions seriously and put her creative talents to the test. Temporarily unattached, Tina takes a position with former prime-time news anchor, Peter Bright at his home in the Thousand Islands. Aging and frail, Peter is trying to finish a book about the decline of objectivity in photojournalism—a meticulously documented exposé of iconic but staged photographs that defined “reality” for an increasingly lazy and credulous public that, Peter believes, demands stories more than facts.

As Peter’s research assistant, Tina tracks down not just the provenance of his photos, but also the unidentified child in a Roman Vishniac photograph and Peter’s estranged daughter, a Cree girl he adopted during the notorious “Sixties Scoop” in Canada. But in trying to create happy endings for other people’s children, she must reexamine her relationship with her own father, and the quest for collective versus personal achievement that has brought her to this unsettled moment.

Funny, searching, and gorgeously written, Burning and Dodging entertains as it reveals how the stories we construct about others support the stories we tell about ourselves.

The Way of Kings (The Stormlight Archive, Book 1)

by Brandon Sanderson

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Brandon Sanderson, The Way of Kings, Book One of the Stormlight Archive begins an incredible new saga of epic proportion.

Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter.

It has been centuries since the fall of the ten consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor that transform ordinary men into near-invincible warriors. Men trade kingdoms for Shardblades. Wars were fought for them, and won by them.

One such war rages on a ruined landscape called the Shattered Plains. There, Kaladin, who traded his medical apprenticeship for a spear to protect his little brother, has been reduced to slavery. In a war that makes no sense, where ten armies fight separately against a single foe, he struggles to save his men and to fathom the leaders who consider them expendable.

Brightlord Dalinar Kholin commands one of those other armies. Like his brother, the late king, he is fascinated by an ancient text called The Way of Kings. Troubled by over-powering visions of ancient times and the Knights Radiant, he has begun to doubt his own sanity.

Across the ocean, an untried young woman named Shallan seeks to train under an eminent scholar and notorious heretic, Dalinar's niece, Jasnah. Though she genuinely loves learning, Shallan's motives are less than pure. As she plans a daring theft, her research for Jasnah hints at secrets of the Knights Radiant and the true cause of the war.

The result of over ten years of planning, writing, and world-building, The Way of Kings is but the opening movement of the Stormlight Archive, a bold masterpiece in the making.

Speak again the ancient oaths:

Life before death.
Strength before weakness.
Journey before Destination.

and return to men the Shards they once bore.

The Knights Radiant must stand again.

From Strength to Strength: Finding Success, Happiness, and Deep Purpose in the Second Half of Life

by Arthur C. Brooks

The roadmap for finding purpose, meaning, and success as we age, from bestselling author, Harvard professor, and the
Atlantic's happiness columnist Arthur Brooks.

Many of us assume that the more successful we are, the less susceptible we become to the sense of professional and social irrelevance that often accompanies aging. But the truth is, the greater our achievements and our attachment to them, the more we notice our decline, and the more painful it is when it occurs.

What can we do, starting now, to make our older years a time of happiness, purpose, and yes, success?

At the height of his career at the age of 50, Arthur Brooks embarked on a seven-year journey to discover how to transform his future from one of disappointment over waning abilities into an opportunity for progress.
From Strength to Strength is the result, a practical roadmap for the rest of your life.

Drawing on social science, philosophy, biography, theology, and eastern wisdom, as well as dozens of interviews with everyday men and women, Brooks shows us that true life success is well within our reach. By refocusing on certain priorities and habits that anyone can learn, such as deep wisdom, detachment from empty rewards, connection and service to others, and spiritual progress, we can set ourselves up for increased happiness.

Read this book and you, too, can go from strength to strength.

The Breaking of Eva Celeste: a Hot and Steamy Vampire Erotica (Book 1)

by Nina Monet

Vampires love the taste of human blood and they need it for sustenance. But there is another type of hunger that they love that comes second to them; and that is the indulgence of untethered revelry and raw coition with each other. This type of hunger is all consuming and their lust for each other is unleashed once a year on an event they call “The Spree”.

Eva is a young vampire that has a secret: she is still a virgin even though she's played a deceptive game of pretending to take part in the yearly Spree. This upcoming Spree will be her 7th and so far, her chastity is in tact. For her own personal reasons, she chooses to keep her virginity despite her growing lustful desires from within. However, the roaringly erotic and brutally violent wet dreams and hallucinations have been intensifying each passing year. When she meets a high-value, wealthy and handsome vampire that embodies everything she loves in aggressive males, she realizes just how weak her strength to resist has become over the years. He just may very well be the very thing to send her over the edge.

As her willpower begins to break under the weight of her own lustful desires, will she be able to hold back the all-consuming storm of primal and lascivious instincts that war within her?
