When we were eleven, Oliver Ford Pemberton dared me to jump off a barn
roof. He said you couldn’t break a leg from a 12-foot jump.
He lied.
(You can also break a collarbone, which served him right as far as I was
concerned.)
I wish I could say it was the last dare I ever took from him, the last bet
I ever made with him, the last time I ever *trusted* Oliver Ford Pemberton.
But it wasn’t.
Because he had the nerve to grow up gorgeous, charming, and sexy. And as we
got older, the dares only got dirtier—and the betting stakes higher—until
finally, he left me in pieces.
I swore I’d never talk to him again.
But twenty years after I took that flying leap, he’s back in my life,
daring me to risk everything for him: my job, my self-worth, and my heart.
How many chances does true love deserve?
The Thriller Award–winning series continues as Detective Jude Fontaine finds a decades-old connection to missing children that will freeze her blood.
A boy’s frozen body is found trapped in the ice of a Minneapolis lake. The horrifying discovery leads Detective Jude Fontaine and her partner, Uriah Ashby, to more bodies in the ice, all of twelve-year-old boys missing for twenty years.
Then, in one of the worst blizzards the city has ever seen, a four-year-old is abandoned on Jude’s doorstep. The child can’t tell them where he’s from, who his parents are, or how he got there. He doesn’t even know his name.
But in his unspoken language, Jude reads something horrifying—a connection to the dead boys. Now a four-year-old with no name may be the only key to a twenty-year-old, very cold case.

Royal a$$h0le, daddy’s best friend, and also my new boss.
But how on earth did we end up making a baby?
Was it just a mistake?
Well, let’s go back a few years.
I was innocent and naïve.
He was off limits.
But that was the challenge, right?
Finally, I seduced him into a no strings attached relationship.
Yep, I’m the s$xy kind of innocent.
And then that one mistake…
Oops, daddy’s gonna kill him if he finds out.
And the board is going to fire him for sleeping with an intern.
I guess I should keep this baby a secret – even from the father.
Wasn’t this supposed to be no strings attached?
Oh well…how many pieces can a heart break into!
Upon the death of his father, a Ph.D. psychologist is driven to face his own mortality. In this autobiographical memoir, strange and haunting episodes of his own long life provide clues to the central question, “Who am I?”
Moments of pain leavened with unexpected humor set Waking Up Cattywampus apart from other memoirs. In this unflinching examination, the author ponders the impact of being bullied as a child. He examines how, as the oldest of eight children, he coped with his father’s alcoholism. He discusses with admirable frankness his successes and his failures.
Joyful and heartbreaking in turns, Cattywampus details the search for self - and provides a roadmap in seven delightful appendices. The search for meaning is a life-long quest and never straightforward. We are all born "cattywampus."

How is there evidence that the gas station clerk has been shot three times point blank and survived?
With an ambitious past now in ashes, Harmon is a twenty-year veteran of the Bureau. Blunt, with little patience for idiots and even less political savvy, he’s just been transferred to a small resident agency in Santa Rosa. It’s not exactly an outright dismissal but it’s the opposite of a promotion.
Given a new partner - Kate, green and freshly graduated - and a routine investigation, it’s not long before Harmon realizes that this case is far more than it seems. Why has he been given a case when the suspect is already in police custody? How can there be evidence that the gas station clerk was shot point-blank three times … and survived?
With far more questions than answers, Harmon and Kate are ferried from case to case as they realize that they’ve been tossed down an increasingly deadly rabbit hole - but by who? And why? And could a seemingly impossible tale of an immortal man be … plausible?
Deception lies at every corner; the stakes are mounting and with it—the feeling that they’re expendable pawns in the hands of a hidden puppet master.
A case cloaked in mystery, explosive leads and a partner with a hidden past, Harmon will need his wits about him if he ever wants to make it through this investigation alive.
A riveting, fast-paced paranormal thriller - this novel will keep you at the very edge of your seat and turning each page until the very last.

A magnificent new novel from one of America’s finest writers—a powerfully affecting story spanning the twentieth century of a widow and her daughter and the nuns who serve their Irish-American community in Brooklyn.
On a dim winter afternoon, a young Irish immigrant opens a gas tap in his Brooklyn tenement. He is determined to prove—to the subway bosses who have recently fired him, to his pregnant wife—that “the hours of his life . . . belonged to himself alone.” In the aftermath of the fire that follows, Sister St. Saviour, an aging nun, a Little Nursing Sister of the Sick Poor, appears, unbidden, to direct the way forward for his widow and his unborn child.
In Catholic Brooklyn in the early part of the twentieth century, decorum, superstition, and shame collude to erase the man’s brief existence, and yet his suicide, though never spoken of, reverberates through many lives—testing the limits and the demands of love and sacrifice, of forgiveness and forgetfulness, even through multiple generations. Rendered with remarkable delicacy, heart, and intelligence, Alice McDermott’s The Ninth Hour is a crowning achievement of one of the finest American writers at work today.
KINGDOMS RISE, ONE PROPHESY AFTER ANOTHER
For the people of the Realm of Light, this has always been the mantra; a foreboding concept of both men and beasts. As prophesies speak of new leadership that will bring the realm into a time of perpetual peace, four Denizen Clans exist in a tension-filled truce beneath the shadow of war. The Kingdom of Buz-Perr-Addock, ruled by Lord Yrimwaque, Jacob Hunter and his Queen, Svet-Lan-Addock, rules in fear of rebellion from the other three. While Lord Yrimwaque’s heirs - Arctyrus Hunter and his twin Amyrith, along with their cunning, younger brother Vulktyramous Hunter – are being groomed to inherit the Kingdom of Buz-Perr-Addock, Arctyrus becomes concerned with rumblings of an uprising from his brother Vulktyramous, whose main goal is to destroy the other Denizen Clans of the realm by recruiting other armies to his cause.
Arctyrus forsakes the throne of Buz-Perr-Addock by attempting to warn the other clans of his brother’s impending attack in hopes of unifying them against Vulktyramous. By doing so, Arctyrus hopes to restore peace and end the tyranny between the Denizen Clans of the Realm of Light once and for all. But the prideful clan leaders refuse to heed Arctyrus’ pleas and attack Vulktyramous and his followers individually, minimizing Arctyrus’ cause and making Vulktyramous all the more powerful. Amyrith remains indecisive between choosing which brother to follow while struggling to follow the will of her father. But in love and war, everyone aligns with one or the other and the fate of the Realms will hinge on that decision, forever.
Denizens Among Us is a Prequel to James Merservy’s debut hit, The United: The Realm of Light Book Series.
I’M LIZETTE CLARY, copywriter by day and Epic Fail Girl by night. I’m an internet meme so notorious that I made a brand out of being human wreckage. Now I’m up for a promotion to New Media Editor at my real job, but there’s a catch: I have to compete with some guy named Jason Moon, a Pulitzer-winning photojournalist taller and more gorgeous than any man I've swiped right on.
Jason says he doesn’t want to the New Media Editor job, but a project that inspires him. And right now, he seems inspired to help me stop being an Epic Fail. We have to work together for six months either way. What’s the harm in becoming Jason Moon’s pet project?
I’M JASON MOON. Yes, that Jason Moon. It’s been years since I felt inspiration. My last muse destroyed my life when she left it, and I’ve been looking for a new model to relight the fire inside me. Instead, I have Lizette Clary, a party girl who comes to work hungover with a poop emoji purse. She's brilliant, but the New Media Editor needs more than brilliance. She needs control.
I'll help her learn to "adult," so to speak. Lizette's eager to improve, and by the time I'm done with her, she'll be a great editor. My plan is perfect except for one thing... I’m starting to feel inspired by a human meme. And it’s not just passion for art.

AUTHOR INTERVIEW
Q: Why do you write?
A: I write to stop myself from going mad. Really – I can’t control any longer how much of my day is taken up by daydreaming, and I have to express that storytelling urge somehow and get those stories down on paper so I can stop dreaming about them. Or at least try to. It’s also a way for me to engage with the books that I love so much, to continue to be influenced by great storytellers and push genre writing forward.
Q: What do you write?
A: The easiest way to answer this is to say that I write genre fiction. Fantasy and romance are at the foreground; those are always present in my stories, along with a healthy sense of adventure. My fantasy leans toward darker elements, influenced by my life-long love affair with horror and gothic fiction.
I write about gods and monsters and demons, but I also write about everyday people who have extraordinary things happen to them. I like flawed characters and people with complicated family lives, and I have a warm fuzzy place in my heart for genuinely good male romantic leads. The world needs more white knights.
FROSTBITE
STANDALONE NOVELS
Q: Why should readers pick up your books?
A: If you’re anything like me, then you read to discover lush new worlds, or new ways of looking at your own world. You read to fall in love, and to root for your favorite characters – even the villains. You fall in love with stories, and they linger with you, because they can be wonderful, romantic, mysterious, heartbreaking, and sinister. Whatever you’re in the mood for, there’s a book for that, just waiting on a nearby shelf. Or in a crazy writer’s head.
Read my fiction for thoughtful, rich worldbuilding, and realistic characters. Fans of Outlander and time-travel romance will find something to enjoy. So will people who get excited by the words “Druid” or “curse” on the back of a book cover. Bottom line - if you’re looking for a new adventure and to fall in love along the way, then I’m your gal.

A whimsical, moving novel about a retirement home for literary legends who spar, conjure up new stories, and almost magically change the lives of the people around them.
Alfonse Carducci was a literary giant who lived his life to excess—lovers, alcohol, parties, and literary rivalries. But now he's come to the Bar Harbor Home for the Elderly to spend the remainder of his days among kindred spirits: the publishing industry's nearly gone but never forgotten greats. Only now, at the end of his life, does he comprehend the price of appeasing every desire, and the consequences of forsaking love to pursue greatness. For Alfonse has an unshakeable case of writer's block that distresses him much more than his precarious health.
Set on the water in one of New England's most beautiful locales, the Bar Harbor Home was established specifically for elderly writers needing a place to live out their golden years—or final days—in understated luxury and surrounded by congenial literary company. A faithful staff of nurses and orderlies surround the writers, and are drawn into their orbit, as they are forced to reckon with their own life stories. Among them are Cecibel Bringer, a young woman who knows first-hand the cost of chasing excess. A terrible accident destroyed her face and her sister in a split-second decision that Cecibel can never forgive, though she has tried to forget. Living quietly as an orderly, refusing to risk again the cost of love, Cecibel never anticipated the impact of meeting her favorite writer, Alfonse Carducci—or the effect he would have on her existence. In Cecibel, Alfonse finds a muse who returns him to the passion he thought he lost. As the words flow from him, weaving a tale taken up by the other residents of the Pen, Cecibel is reawakened to the idea of love and forgiveness.
As the edges between story and reality blur, a world within a world is created. It’s a place where the old are made young, the damaged are made whole, and anything is possible….
