Fantasy

Sometimes, this world just isn't enough, right?  And, what's better than stepping to a world created by some of the most imaginative authors around?  That's what we bring to you on as consistent a basis as possible. Free and discounted ebooks in the Fantasy genre from bestselling authors. Never pay full price again to escape into thousands of different mindscapes!

Definition of the "Fantasy Genre": As alluded to above, the primary components of bestselling Fantasy ebooks are the creation of a rich and expansive other world.  While those other worlds can have aspects similar to our reality, the less so, the better.  Ebooks in the Fantasy genre also use magic commonly, and include magical creatures in their plot lines.  Perhaps one of the most important technical elements of a Fantasy ebook is that while the rules in the other world created by the author may not work in our reality, they are internally consistent to the story itself.

Some examples of bestselling Fantasy ebooks are George R.R. Martin (Game of Thrones), J.R.R. Tolkien (Lord of the Rings), Brandon Sanderson (The Way of Kings), and Piers Anthony (his entire Xanth series).  And, you know what?  We are going to throw the movie The Neverending Story in here, because it had a book in it after all, and it's a premier example of fantasy.

I Bring the Fire: Part I, II, III, & In the Balance

by C. Gockel

When Amy Lewis prays for a savior, Loki Norse God of Mischief and Chaos isn’t who she has in mind. Loki can’t resist Amy’s summons, but he can insist she help him outwit Odin, ruler of the Nine Realms.

This box set contains the first three installments of I Bring the Fire plus In the Balance. It is perfect for fans of The Dresden Files and Terry Pratchett.

***

Wolves: I Bring the Fire Part I
In the middle of America, Amy Lewis is on her way to her grandma's house. She's being chased by a very bad wolf. Galaxies away Loki is waking up in a prison cell, strangely without a hangover, and with no idea what he's done wrong -- this time anyway. But he does know Thor is hiding something, Odin is up to something wicked, and there seems to be something he's forgotten...

In this urban fantasy tale a nice midwestern girl and a jaded, mischievous Loki must join forces to outwit gods, elves, magic sniffing cats, and nosy neighbors. If Loki can remember exactly what he's forgotten and Amy can convince him not to be too distracted by Earthly gadgets, Earthly pleasures, or three day benders, they just might pull it off...

***

Monsters: I Bring the Fire Part II
After being attacked by a serial killer, saved by Loki — so-called God of Mischief, Lies and Chaos — dragged to Alfheim, losing every cent in her bank account, and caring for her grandmother, Amy Lewis has lost her scholarship to veterinary school. But it’s alright. She has a plan. If she manages to keep her day job as a receptionist, and her night job as a vet tech, she may be able to get her scholarship reinstated and save enough money for the dreaded ‘miscellaneous fees.’

Too bad her day boss is unbearable...

Agent Steve Rogers has political aspirations, but when a suitcase nuke turns out to be something much worse and so-called Norse gods start showing up in his life, he has a priority shift.

Meanwhile, Loki’s priorities and plans haven’t changed at all. He wants Asgard to burn. Of course, earthly pleasures can be so distracting.

These three disparate characters have little in common, but they’ll have to join forces to save earth from trolls, wyrms, frost giant invasions, and an old evil growing beneath Chicago’s streets.

***

Chaos: I Bring the Fire Part III
In this final installment of the Cera story arc, the noose around Loki’s neck is tightening. Gerðr, the frost giantess, wants him dead; Cera, the World Seed, wants his head—literally and figuratively; the FBI wants him in Guantanamo; and an old friend from Asgard wants to bring him home...whether Loki likes it or not.

Things can’t get any worse, but when Loki’s involved, it’s certain they will. In the third chapter of I Bring the Fire, humanity’s demons are unleashed on the Nine Realms and Amy Lewis and Steve Rogers get front row seats.

Chaos might be their only hope.

***

In the Balance: An I Bring the Fire Novella
Chaos can never really be destroyed ...

Loki, God of Chaos, gave Amy Lewis all his memories, and one request before he saved the universe. “Remember for me.”

Amy knows Loki will find her, one way or another ... eventually. But as the weeks have ticked by she’s lost hope.

Called into the FBI headquarters to identify a magical artifact, she gets the opportunity to find Loki for herself. In doing so, she tips the scales of not one, but two universes, and has to choose for herself what form she wants Chaos to take.

The fate of the Nine Realms is in the balance, and this time it is in Amy’s hands.

Now it looks like the apocalypse has come. Monsters and diseases plague the land. There is no defense, no enemy even to strike against.

Out of the chaos a mysterious stranger calling himself Lowellin appears. Lowellin claims to be immortal. He claims to be the world’s only hope. But the weapons he offers the land’s beleaguered defenders are dangerous and chaotic and Wulf Rome soon begins to doubt his true motives.

Thus does immortality sow the seeds of chaos…

"Author Eric T Knight masterfully combines both religion and tradition, clashing the two with magic and nature by building a world that is beautiful and unique, yet familiar and captivating. His powerful imagery of what is real and imaginary enthralls the reader, sucking them into each of the characters’ heads and letting them empathize with each of their perspectives. Wreckers Gate has a fascinating plot, unforgettable characters, and a vast world that readers can immerse themselves in ... if you like Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings, you will love this novel." -- B. Shifted Agony
After ten years spent facing horrors on the other side of the Threshold mastering forbidden arcane patterns, I want only to rest. I came home, returning to the small town I’d known before my exile, and before my father’s death.

Somehow, I'm the only one able to stop it.

Arcane Mark

Then Devan is abducted by a dangerous painter from the other side of the Threshold, one who might be deadlier than anyone I’ve ever faced, and demands that I find a mysterious and powerfully magical item of my father’s. The only problem is I have no idea what he wants.

To save her, I have to master magic beyond my ability, but even that might not be enough. And if I fail, Devan will be forced back across the Threshold where a fate worse than death awaits.

Painter For Hire
When a dead painter is discovered near the local diner, a place that should be protected by patterns placed by my father before his disappearance, I have even less time to prepare for the Druist Mage than I thought.

Then an old friend appears with power he should not possess, putting everyone in the city in even more danger and forcing me to make a choice to protect the city or risk losing Devan, something I can't allow happen again.

I See Me (Oracle Book 1)

by Meghan Ciana Doidge

The day I turned nineteen, I expected to gain what little freedom I could within the restrictions of my bank account and the hallucinations that had haunted me for the last six years. I expected to drive away from a life that had been dictated by the tragedy of others and shaped by the care of strangers. I expected to be alone. Actually, I relished the idea of being alone. Instead, I found fear I thought I’d overcome. Uncertainty I thought I’d painstakingly planned away. And terror that was more real than anything I’d ever hallucinated before. I’d seen terrible, fantastical, and utterly impossible things … but not love. Not until I saw him.
--------------------
This paranormal romance/urban fantasy is the first book in the Oracle Series by author Meghan Ciana Doidge. Author's note: The ideal reading order of I See Me (Oracle 1) is between Dowser 3 and 4, but it's not actually necessary to read the Dowser Series before reading the Oracle Series.
