Sometimes, this world just isn't enough, right?  And, what's better than stepping to a world created by some of the most imaginative authors around?  That's what we bring to you on as consistent a basis as possible. Free and discounted ebooks in the Fantasy genre from bestselling authors. Never pay full price again to escape into thousands of different mindscapes!

Definition of the "Fantasy Genre": As alluded to above, the primary components of bestselling Fantasy ebooks are the creation of a rich and expansive other world.  While those other worlds can have aspects similar to our reality, the less so, the better.  Ebooks in the Fantasy genre also use magic commonly, and include magical creatures in their plot lines.  Perhaps one of the most important technical elements of a Fantasy ebook is that while the rules in the other world created by the author may not work in our reality, they are internally consistent to the story itself.

Some examples of bestselling Fantasy ebooks are George R.R. Martin (Game of Thrones), J.R.R. Tolkien (Lord of the Rings), Brandon Sanderson (The Way of Kings), and Piers Anthony (his entire Xanth series).  And, you know what?  We are going to throw the movie The Neverending Story in here, because it had a book in it after all, and it's a premier example of fantasy.

Blood Gifts (A Final Formula Story)

by Becca Andre

Seventeen-year-old Ian is used to pressure. Born into a necromancer family, he and his twin brother Lex exhibited uncommon magical potential at an early age that led their father to expect great things—from them both. That is until Lex’s blood gift fails to manifest.

Or so everyone believes.

For the past five years, Ian has been keeping a secret. A secret that—if it got out—would see his brother shunned, or worse. Lex does have a blood gift, but not every gift is a blessing, and not every recipient can manage the talent in his blood.

As Lex’s sanity begins to slip, Ian knows the responsibility to raise his family’s fortunes is on his shoulders, and his alone. When he is offered an apprenticeship with one of the most influential men in the necromancer community, Lex convinces Ian that the connection would offer their family even more if Ian were to marry his elderly mentor’s “spinster” niece.

Ian’s plan takes an unexpected turn when he discovers that Isabelle is not a spinster. She’s a young, beautiful, intelligent woman who, unfortunately, wants nothing to do with him. Now Ian must find a way to win her over before Lex attempts to elevate their family, his way.

BONUS – Included in this ebook is the short story, Lords of the Dead

(Total word count for both the novella and the short story is over 52,000 words.)

'The writing is incredibly slick and polished, the universe so rich, vibrant and complex, the story so fascinating and well-paced. If this book exploded overnight and became a massive success, it would be well deserved.' Goodreads Reviewer, ★★★★★

Darkened skies, mushroom forests, monsters, battles and adventure.

There exists a secret realm outside our own, the original Garden of Eden, sealed from the rest of the world and populated with the fittest of men and women. A paradise that became ravaged by smog that choked out the skies.

Now the realm exists in darkness and its people need a champion, a chosen one to save them from the poison that cloaks the land and threatens to smother its inhabitants.

That's what they needed. They got sixteen-year-old Sammy Ellis instead. Her only responsibility was to help the "chosen one" open a gateway into the realm. But, not only has she entered the land in their place, she's also locked them out in the process.

Overview:
In a single moment, everything changes. Hundreds of thousands of people suddenly collapse, leaving their friends and loved ones behind, terrified and confused.

Moments later, the fallen rise and the survivors become the hunted.

Follow three intertwining stories through the apocalypse.

Will Kessler works a dead-end warehouse job in Tennessee, driving a forklift and unloading shipping containers. When he wakes up from a nap during his lunch break, he finds most of his co-workers have mutated into monsters, and they have turned the 50,000 square foot building into a war zone, murdering any other survivors. Alone and weaponless, Will must fight through the undead horde to secure the building and answer one question: Is he truly alone?

In Texas, Gabriel Alexander boards a plane, thinking he is heading back to his wife and daughter in Washington D.C. After his flight takes off, several passengers fall suddenly ill, sending the cabin into a panic. Soon, the sick passengers go on a rampage, attacking others on the plane, including the pilot. And with no one to fly the plane, it dives toward the ground, taking Gabriel and the start of the apocalypse with it.

Jessica Davies runs the front desk of a hotel in the North Carolina mountains. It seems like another boring day of checking tourists into their rooms when she receives a call from a guest to bring them some aspirin. The elevator door opens, and Jessica is forced into a hell she could’ve never imagined.

Author Q&A:

What separates Empty Bodies from other zombie books?
I don't want to give anything away, but the inciting incident as to what sparked thousands of people to turn into zombies (or Empties as they are called in the books), is a different twist on zombies from anything that I've seen in other books or movies. Readers have found it to be very refreshing.

What inspired the story?
Other than my love for The Walking Dead and the George Romero zombie films, the idea was sparked by two employees at my day job who like to sleep in one of our company's offices on their lunch break. We work in a 50,000 square foot industrial warehouse, and one day I just said to myself, 'I wonder what would happen if he woke up and the rest of us had turned into zombies.' And thus, Empty Bodies was born.

What can readers expect out of reading the Empty Bodies series?
I feel like I've written characters that you can either root for or hate, depending on which character we are talking about. The settings are all places I'm very familiar with, so they should feel very real. If you're a fan of The Walking Dead, movies like Dawn of the Dead, 28 Days Later, World War Z, or even books such as Slow Burn, Contamination, or Zombie Fallout, then I think you'll really enjoy Empty Bodies.

Blitzball: A Teen Clone of Hitler Rebels Against Nazis in Coming-of-Age

by Barton Ludwig

In a bestselling novel that speaks out against fascism and racism, a teen clone of Hitler battles his genes and tries to choose a different path. At Reichfield High, soccer is war and the battle is fought between Neo-Nazis and Mexicans.

"The tone hits a range of notes between Suzanne Collins' 2010 book, Mockingjay, and Mel Brooks' 1967 film, The Producers." — Kirkus Reviews

A predominantly white Reichfield High has lost every game in the last few years to the North Prep, a school with mostly Mexican, Brazilian, and Filipino students. For the first game of the season, however, Addie and his teammates are confident that they will win—because they’ve personally made sure the lead player of the opposite team will be unable to play.

Addie and his supremacist and misogynistic friends are ill-prepared for what comes next, though. They are defeated by Shaylee, the best soccer player North Prep has ever seen—who also happens to be a girl. Granted an exception, Shaylee is allowed to compete in a team of all boys.

Unable to accept defeat, Addie is convinced that Shaylee must be using illegal methods to beat the Reichfield team. He sets out to expose her, but discovers instead that he has secrets of his own…

"Blitzball" combines a science fiction dystopian story with strong elements of coming of age. Throughout this book, Addie's main goal is to fight the forces that want to turn him into the next Fuhrer. Addie must put aside any self-destructive patterns that might lead to him becoming an evil totalitarian dictator. He must determine who's behind the plot as well as who's pulling the strings. As well, he must use his wits, soccer iq, a combination of strategy, historical smarts, clever maneuvers, and extreme tactics to defeat those forces united in trying to control the outcome of his fate. History might have led to Adolf Hitler becoming Hitler but Addie is not Hitler. Addie is a clone and he's determined to be better than his predecessor. However, the effects of peer pressure and bullying from the teen boys at Reichfield High might be too strong for him to handle. Addie has to choose between feeling like an outside or feeling belonging and succumbing to the strong pull of popularity.
.
"In a dystopian science fiction story that highlights and takes a stand against fascism and racism in the 21st century, this story is quite relevant to society today where racism, fascism, totalitarianism and oppression can lurk under the surface everywhere you look. In this novel, the Draugar are make believe zombies that Addie and Thomas were scared of as kids. As a teen, Addie discovers that there are far greater fears in real life, namely all of the fascists in his town."--Avery West, author

" In Farenheit 451, Ray Bradury wrote, “If you hide your ignorance, no one will hit you and you'll never learn.” Addie's story is necessary to have an open dialogue about racism in order to combat racism. As George Orwell said in his science fiction novel, 1984, “Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past.” We must speak out against the racism of the past and present so that we prevent racism in the present and future." --Shira Potter, author of The Monster at Recess.

An intriguing blend of racial conflict, wry humor, and a winding plot make for an enjoyable read in Blitzball by Barton Ludwig, a narrative with a strong appeal for fans of soccer and coming of age." — Readers' Favorite

Dandelion Wine (Greentown Book 1)

by Ray Bradbury

Ray Bradbury's moving recollection of a vanished golden era remains one of his most enchanting novels. Dandelion Wine stands out in the Bradbury literary canon as the author's most deeply personal work, a semi-autobiographical recollection of a magical small-town summer in 1928.

Twelve-year-old Douglas Spaulding knows Green Town, Illinois, is as vast and deep as the whole wide world that lies beyond the city limits. It is a pair of brand-new tennis shoes, the first harvest of dandelions for Grandfather's renowned intoxicant, the distant clang of the trolley's bell on a hazy afternoon. It is yesteryear and tomorrow blended into an unforgettable always. But as young Douglas is about to discover, summer can be more than the repetition of established rituals whose mystical power holds time at bay. It can be a best friend moving away, a human time machine who can transport you back to the Civil War, or a sideshow automaton able to glimpse the bittersweet future.

Come and savor Ray Bradbury's priceless distillation of all that is eternal about boyhood and summer.

When We Were Crowned (The Wolf of Oberhame Book 3)

by Auryn Hadley

A GLADIATOR QUEEN IS JUST LIKE A GLADIATOR—SHE DOESN'T FIGHT FAIR! AND SHE'S BECOME THE THING SHE MOST FEARED BEING--A PREGNANT GLADIATOR.

Long Live the Gladiator Queen!

With the crown safely on Leyli's head, her problems should've been over. Her country is safe. Her family is together. What more could a new Queen ask for?

Unfortunately, spending her mornings purging her stomach isn't it. Evidently, not even the Queen of Norihame is immune to morning sickness. Even worse, women in her country were expected to produce the next generation, not rule it. As soon as the men in court realize she's pregnant with the heir, they'll try to take away all the power she fought so hard to gain.

If that was all she had to worry about, things would be great.

But Rhia is closing in. The expansionist nation to the west has been seeking a trade alliance in violation of her father's peace treaty. Is this merely a misunderstanding between politicians, or is it the first hint of things to come. And why is one of the Senators saying the exact same thing her cousin cited as his reason for rebellion?

When all the pieces come together, Leyli realizes it's worse than she feared. Only one thing can save her country now, but that means putting herself - and her unborn child - in harm's way. Thankfully, she's got one thing going for her that Rhia will never expect.

She's a gladiator.
That means she doesn't fight fair.

by P.E. Padilla

When there is nothing but darkness around you, fire is your only hope.

More than eight centuries ago, the kingdom of Brasea first became aware of the Gate to Hell, somehow suddenly present in a remote area of that nation. It fell to the Braseans to keep the monsters coming through the gate from deluging the world of humans. To do this, they created the Order of the Fire, an army that is humankind’s only weapon against the forces of Hell.

Kate Courtenay comes from a lineage of distinguished members of the Order and she means to carry on the tradition. But there are few women in the military organization and such activities are not befitting the daughter of a duke. Or so people tell her.

Troubling reports of problems within the Order have reached Kate’s ears. They say the demons are growing in power, that the Order may be faltering.

Perhaps she could make a difference. Turn the tide.

The trials are just days away and Kate plans on passing them and becoming an initiate in the Order of the Fire. That alone will be difficult enough, but only the start of her labors. Once in the Order, there will be demons to fight. Lots of demons.

Her shield and sword at the ready, Kate embarks on what could be the fulfillment of her lifelong goal…or her demise. The war is heating up and when everything burns, all that remains is fire.
