Action and Adventure

Are you looking for explosions, high-speed chases, rappelling down the sides of buildings, and generally everything that Tom Cruise does on a daily basis?  Then we're sure you're dying to get your hands on free and discounted ebooks in the Action and Adventure genre.  You've come to the right place.  All of our Action and Adventure authors that promote their ebooks want you to get their ebooks at the lowest price possible.  Always free or discounted!

Definition of "Action and Adventure Genre": You may ask yourself, how does an Action and Adventure ebook differ from a Thriller ebook?  Fair question.  They may seem similar, but the main aspect of an Action and Adventure ebook is the element of consistent physical danger as a main part of the storyline.  So, while our reference to Tom Cruise and, for instance, his Mission Impossible series was slightly tongue-in-cheek, those stories would actually fall into the Action and Adventure genre.  Another important aspect of the Action and Adventure genre is that the pace of the novel using action is actually just as important as character building and setting--which makes the genre differ from others in a significant fashion.

Some examples of Action and Adventure bestselling ebooks are James Patterson (most of his Alex Cross novels), Pierce Brown (Red Rising), Tom Clancy (most of his Jack Ryan novels), and A.G. Riddle (The Atlantis Gene).

The Vermeer Deception: An Art Mystery (Zelda Richardson Mystery Series Book 4)

by Jennifer S. Alderson

An art historian finds – then loses – a portrait by Johannes Vermeer in this thrilling art mystery set in Munich, Heidelberg, and Amsterdam.

When Zelda Richardson investigates a new lead about a missing portrait by Johannes Vermeer, no one expects her to actually find the painting in a retired art dealer’s home in Munich, Germany. Not her parents visiting from America; her boss, private detective Vincent de Graaf; or the rightful owner of the Nazi-looted artwork.

However, Zelda’s jubilation turns to horror when she arrives to pick up the portrait and finds the art dealer dead and several frames smoldering in his fireplace.

Was the Vermeer a fake and its ‘discovery’ a cruel joke played on a Nazi victim? The Munich police, Zelda’s family, and Vincent certainly think so.

Yet the art dealer’s best friend believes he was murdered and the real Vermeer stolen by an underground network of art looters, one established during World War II and still active today. The problem is, no one believes him – except Zelda.

Zelda soon finds herself in a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse with immoral art collectors, corrupt dealers, and an all-to-real killer who wants her to stop searching.

Can Zelda uncover the truth about the Vermeer before she is painted out of the picture permanently?

The Vermeer Deception is Book 4 in the Zelda Richardson Mystery Series. The novels in this series can be read in any order.

Harrowhark Nonagesimus, Reverend Daughter of the Ninth House and bone witch extraordinaire, has been summoned into action. Sunburn

by Darren Dash

When three friends go on holiday to Bulgaria, protecting themselves from sunburn is their only real concern, but when they run into a nightmarish beast unlike any they've ever imagined in the forested hills far from civilization, their vacation becomes a savage fight for survival.

"The beast licked its upper lip, teasing dried flakes of blood, remembering other bright nights when it had hunted and killed and wallowed in thick red juices. The beast could manoeuvre in total darkness but preferred nights like this, when it could see the blood dripping from its fingers, the terror in the eyes of its victims, its guts shifting sinuously as it ripped with its fangs and swallowed."

Not for the faint of heart or weak of stomach, Sunburn will introduce you to a monster like none you've seen before. The question is -- will you survive the encounter or will your torn flesh and splintered bones be added to the scattered remains in the creature's rat-ridden underground lair?

EDITORIAL REVIEWS

"The story flows like a dream, and the characters are diverse, divisive and distinct. Mr Dash can not only create a thrilling horror, but the kinds of characters, depth and quality with which he completes the novel bring it to a much higher level. Sunburn is engaging, horrific and visceral, interesting and truly well-written." Matthew R Bell's Book Blog Bonanza.

"Vivid and unrelenting... Dash fully realizes the unnamed monster in all of its grotesque, imposing physicality... the novel offers captivating tension and brutal, gory fun." Kirkus Reviews.

"I cannot go on enough about the book, how great it is and how entertaining. This is an author who knows how to make the readers laugh, cry and scream in terror. To call this a must-read is an understatement!" Kelly Smith Reviews.

"A well-written and disturbing piece of fiction that explores relationships and delves into the deepest corners of the human mind. The plot reads like an international horror movie, enticing the reader with a series of detailed and comedic chapters before exploding into a vision of blood-chilling gore." Books, Films & Random Lunacy.

"This demonic masterpiece does not fail to disappoint even the biggest of horror fans." Crossing Pixies.

"A violent culmination of love, friendships, hilarity, thrill, horror and sex… Isn't that what we all want from a good book?! Sunburn literally had me completely HOOKED. A brilliant and thrilling read." Chase That Horizon.

"The elements of classic horror are very much present here. Sunburn held me firmly in the moment, demanding my full attention right to the very last page." Thoughts Of An Overactive Imagination.

"Darren Dash builds up the suspense with skillful pacing and a healthy dose of literary restraint, wisely refraining from indulging in the most horrific and grotesque elements of the plot until the reader has become invested in the characters. The result is a horror novel that is suspenseful, fun to read, and at times, very gruesome indeed. It also contains some very good reasons for never forgetting to wear sunscreen." Safie Maken Finlay, author.

"Like the Hostel films, they have a lot of set up and then shizzle hits the fan... and then hits it again for good measure!" Dark Readers.

Cloud Atlas: A Novel

by David Mitchell

By the New York Times bestselling author of The Bone Clocks • Now a major motion picture • Shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize

Includes a new Afterword by David Mitchell

A postmodern visionary and one of the leading voices in twenty-first-century fiction, David Mitchell combines flat-out adventure, a Nabokovian love of puzzles, a keen eye for character, and a taste for mind-bending, philosophical and scientific speculation in the tradition of Umberto Eco, Haruki Murakami, and Philip K. Dick. The result is brilliantly original fiction as profound as it is playful. In this groundbreaking novel, an influential favorite among a new generation of writers, Mitchell explores with daring artistry fundamental questions of reality and identity.

Cloud Atlas begins in 1850 with Adam Ewing, an American notary voyaging from the Chatham Isles to his home in California. Along the way, Ewing is befriended by a physician, Dr. Goose, who begins to treat him for a rare species of brain parasite. . . . Abruptly, the action jumps to Belgium in 1931, where Robert Frobisher, a disinherited bisexual composer, contrives his way into the household of an infirm maestro who has a beguiling wife and a nubile daughter. . . . From there we jump to the West Coast in the 1970s and a troubled reporter named Luisa Rey, who stumbles upon a web of corporate greed and murder that threatens to claim her life. . . . And onward, with dazzling virtuosity, to an inglorious present-day England; to a Korean superstate of the near future where neocapitalism has run amok; and, finally, to a postapocalyptic Iron Age Hawaii in the last days of history.

But the story doesn’t end even there. The narrative then boomerangs back through centuries and space, returning by the same route, in reverse, to its starting point. Along the way, Mitchell reveals how his disparate characters connect, how their fates intertwine, and how their souls drift across time like clouds across the sky.

As wild as a videogame, as mysterious as a Zen koan, Cloud Atlas is an unforgettable tour de force that, like its incomparable author, has transcended its cult classic status to become a worldwide phenomenon.

Praise for Cloud Atlas

“[David] Mitchell is, clearly, a genius. He writes as though at the helm of some perpetual dream machine, can evidently do anything, and his ambition is written in magma across this novel’s every page.”The New York Times Book Review

“One of those how-the-holy-hell-did-he-do-it? modern classics that no doubt is—and should be—read by any student of contemporary literature.”—Dave Eggers

“Wildly entertaining . . . a head rush, both action-packed and chillingly ruminative.”People

“The novel as series of nested dolls or Chinese boxes, a puzzle-book, and yet—not just dazzling, amusing, or clever but heartbreaking and passionate, too. I’ve never read anything quite like it, and I’m grateful to have lived, for a while, in all its many worlds.”—Michael Chabon

Cloud Atlas ought to make [Mitchell] famous on both sides of the Atlantic as a writer whose fearlessness is matched by his talent.”The Washington Post Book World

Into The Game: Dungeon Crawl Quest (Wizard Warrior Quest Book 1)

by C A A Allen

Live real. Play real. Just try not to die for real.

Riff Jenkins is having a bad day. He's behind on his college tuition and is getting kicked out of his dorm. His girlfriend just broke up with him for playing computer games too much. And if that isn't bad enough, Riff hasn't been able to beat the goblin boss in Dungeon Crawl Quest despite months of trying. His brother Mack says it's a glitch-that DCQ is unbeatable-but Riff knows there's a way.

When a mysterious package arrives from the recently deceased DCQ developer, Riff finally gets his reward for being one of the game's top players: a special Grimoire and an invitation to one of LA's premiere gaming dens.

But the Grimoire is much more than it appears. When Riff syncs it to a computer at the den, he's virtually transported into the game. And his bad day just got worse, because the company that owns DCQ will be shutting down the servers at midnight if Riff and his band of misfit players can't beat the goblin boss and save the game.

Oh yeah, and if the servers go down while they're in the game, they all die for real.

“The book contains a number of stat panels, including shop inventories, character sheets, and one creative aspect of a LitRPG story I hadn’t seen before: Rumor boards. The art throughout the book is really good too.” T. Harned – MMOHuts

“The main character gets sucked into a game and must do the most in order to get out alive. There is fun banter between the main character and the zany party of adventurers, with my favorites being the mack-like thief, the kick-butt heroine, and the drunk-old ninja. I appreciated the use of the word Gigglegibber (See EverQuest 2) and references to competitive eSports Team Kaliber and Atari E.T. cartridges. This book is a fun ride from front to back. If you like DnD, Choose Your Own Adventure, or dungeon crawl gaming you will like this." J. Palmer – Fantastic Science Fantasy Adventures

“The real world section establishes the main character’s personality, the reason why he is sent to the game, and sense of urgency to beat the game boss. By the 12% mark, the MC is in the game. Action, Trapped in Game, Die in Game Die in Real Life. R. Mejia – LitRPG Podcast
