If at first you don't succeed...you're probably screwed.

Every druid has a gift, and Rain Finlay's is communicating with animals. Unfortunately, she kind of sucks at everything else about being a druid, including spells and magic. That was just one of the reasons she left home -- the rest of them being her distant, overbearing father.

But when her father contacts her out of the blue with news that her grandfather, her beloved Poppy, is in danger -- and her gift may be able to save him -- she leaves college in the States for the Irish Sea and her childhood home, the Isle of Parthas. There, she learns it's going to take more than talking to a few sheep to save Poppy and the other villagers... because the old legends that Rain never believed in are coming to life, and the mythical creature she must now hunt is only the beginning.
